Hope That Something Good Can Last

Hello there! First off, I need to appologize for my blogging absence lately (mostly this weekend). I've been going crazy with homework, and this weekend I really had too much to do to focus on much else. I'm really hoping that with break being in three weeks things will calm down and get to be a bit more normal.

Secondly, I had a whole post typed up and ready to go for today. But I just can't post it. I was feeling rather upset today, moping about various things, and I channelled all of that into a post. Then, though, I took these silly, happy pictures and things started to turn around a bit. So, I decided to take my negatives and turn them into positives. In the other post, I complained about something that I often get upset over. I find it really hard to meet people and make new friends. I've had trouble finding people to connect with since I was little (though I've made some friends along the way who I dearly care about), mainly because I'm a bit different. Every now and then, this all comes to a head and I start to wonder if there's something wrong with me, if I should change. Maybe then my life would be a bit easier. Then, I come around though. I'm not like most people my age. I don't drink, I love good (old) music and past decades, I try so hard not to hurt anyone and to care for as many people as I can. It's hard to meet people I really connect with. But, I'm happy with who I am, and I wouldn't want to be any other way. These attributes about myself that are truly unique are a blessing, not a curse. Yes, they may make it more difficult for me to make friends, but when I find new people who really connect with me, doesn't that make it all the more precious?

  3. I love it that you're different! And it seems that everyone here is, so that's better than people are our schools and stuff. You shouldn't worry, you are amazing and you should never ever change :) and besides, look! You look incredibly beautiful!

  4. I can definitely relate but I agree that we have to appreciate our uniqueness and be extra grateful for the people who do get our "quirks".

And I love that sweater...you always make me want to go to urban outfitters! But I have to stay srong, I'm almost done with the 30 for 30 challenge!

  6. I love people who are a little 'different'! I feel like everyone I've met in my area is pretty much the same. I rarely ever like someone immediately after meeting them, sad but true. It seems like the more blogs I read, I find myself saying "I would love if that person lived down the street from me." I'm not a real drinker either, and for a long time I cut it out of my life completely. You realize that mostly all you have in common is that you both drink! ...Anyways, you are looking cozy in that sweater and I love the thrifted dress.

  8. wonderful. the sweater is lovely. and the boots add the perfect amount of edge. dont think that you have to change, just becasue your quirks arent always perfect matches with everyone elses. "We are all weird. And life is weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we call it love" (a quote i got from http://www.marcandangel.com/2009/06/08/20-life-lessons-i-learned-in-my-20s/). i know its hard and i myself frequent that feeling of odd ball out but keep your head held high!

  9. oh you look so cute!!! i just love your sweater, it looks so cozy :). I so know what you mean about being different i always feel a bit out of place with other people my age maybe because of some of the things that have happened the last few years but i always feel older or something like that. Anyways i totally agree with you once you make those friends they are truly more special!!

  10. I actually used to have a lot friends, and no problem making them growing up. I had a lot of friends, and then I moved in with my boyfriend. They all stopped being friends with me because of it. Now that I'm an adult, it's really hard to find new friends. I'm really glad that I'm starting to make some. I'm also meeting some online.

  11. I love that you are accepting yourself and all your unique quirks. I'm certain that you will find friends who love you for who you are. (in my head that sounded like advice from Mister Rogers, but I did grow up learning my life lessons from him so I guess that could be why. lol)

By the way, super cute dress/cardigan combo you have going on today! That floral is very pretty. It so reminds me of summer, which sure is approaching fast!

  12. Your cardigan looks so cozy!

I definitely relate to that - I've always had a ton of trouble making friends. I'm very socially awkward, and I tend to be harsh on myself, so I often don't give myself the opportunity to make friends. I'm definitely a little different than most of my peers, but that's okay. We all have our little quirks, and finding people to share them with is wonderful :)

  15. Don't feel weird about being different; as long as you have good friends around you, they'll never make you feel pressured to behave a certain way. :D

You look so cute! The dress is completely darling!

  17. You shouldn't feel like you have to change, I just stumbled across your blog, read this post and already think you sound like an absolutely wonderful person with a beautiful sense of style!
I understand finding it hard to make friends, I feel exactly the same but I reckon that those who are lucky enough to call you their friend are very proud to do so, and it's quality over quantity right?

Love your blog, following you now :)

  19. aw you're such a sweetheart! I have the same feelings a lot of the time but you're right, it's a blessing not a curse! Sometimes it's better to have a very few close friends then a whole bunch anyways. ^_^ I'm glad you're one of my blogging buddies!

Oh and the outfit is adorable too. That cardi is AWESOME.

  20. i often feel the same way; i've made it a goal of mine to try to keep my close friends close, and not worry about making tons of acquaintances. hope you'll feel a bit better tomorrow.

  22. You know I think that you are a great person, and if people your age can't understand and find the differences to be good then they aren't worth the trouble of friendship. Anyway, I know what you mean about writing your sorrows then keeping them for yourself. It's a release. Lincoln was known to write letters to the people he didn't like, voicing his opinions of them. Then he would take those letters and lock them away so that no one would see them. It's a good way to vent, just getting it out of your head.

And these pictures are super cute and springy!! I can't wait for warm weather and that dress looks perfect!

  23. Yes, don't ever change in order to make friends. You're so right. I find that when I finally open up and am myself around people, they respond so positively. And if they don't, well, I don't want to be their friend either! Haha, but seriously you're so awesome for staying true to yourself. And wearing a cozy sweater.

  24. Everything about this outfit is perfect. Those boots are so great and that cardigan beautiful! I wish I had different adjectives to use...I feel like I use the same ones over and over again. Haha.

And don't change the way you are! The world needs more people like you.

  25. Aww bless! I just found your blog and had been perusing when I found this post. You seem so incredibly sweet, and if people take a little bit longer to realise that then they aren't worth it. I have similar problems, I'm shy and it means I tend not to know how to act when I first meet people, although I have been assured I'm very nice when you get to know me. Anyways, I just wanted you to know that there are people out there who think you are perfect as you are, and I'm glad you cheered yourself up. You've got me as a follower from now on xoxo
