I Would Break Into Blossom
Suddenly I realize that if I stepped out of my body I would break into blossom. - from "A Blessing" by James Wright
Hello there! So, today is my longest day of the week, since I have class from nine thirty in the morning to nine at night. I decided to come home in between classes, though, in an attempt to nap (didn't do that) and get some work done (REALLY didn't do that). Anyway, I decided to go the relatively comfy route by wearing a not too complicated outfit once again. I'm actually wearing two dresses in these photos because I'm ridiculous. I've worn the blue dress with a brown floral button up underneath once before, and I really liked the floral on floral action (that sounds terrible). So, I had a brown floral dress and decided to try to layer it underneath the blue dress, as you can see, and I think it turned out alright. Also, when I saw how much floral I was wearing I couldn't help but think of that line from James Wright's poem "The Blessing." It's quite a delightful, and at times peculiar, poem, and I suggest you guys check it out if you have the time!
Brown dress: Zara
Blue dress, boots: Urban Outfitters
Tights: Hue
Belt: Delia's
Until tomorrow,
Nicole

Loving the mix of florals (or as you say, floral on floral action, LOL!), and your boots are cute! Ugh long days are the worst, and I totally know what you mean about breaks; it's like the perfect time to get work done but then all you do (if you're like me) is spend hours on Tumblr doing absolutely nothing :)
ReplyDeleteI remember reading "A Blessing" for my AP Lit class! We had a huge argument about it, although rereading it just now (I had to, after you mentioned it) makes me wonder why we did, because interpreting it seems so much more straightforward now than it did then (or maybe I just have more life experience now).
ReplyDeleteI commend your floral on floral action (and raise you one more floral, because I've done triple floral before and I'm not sure if it was a disaster or awesome). (Yours is definitely awesome.)
I love your mix of floral prints, bold but not even a bit tacky! You're getting better and better each post Nicole!
ReplyDeletelove the boots dear!
ReplyDeleteWow what a busy schedule sounds like mine:) ridiculous or not...I still love the two dresses. I love those adorable little boots.
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely adorable! I love how you styled the dress with the blue leggings and the floral underneath!

ReplyDeleteOh I totally love that idea of layering dresses! You worked it well :P hahaha omg the same happens to me on wednesdays... I come home to eat and take a nap... and I end up on tumblr for hours or something :p
ReplyDeletefloral on floral action is so sexual =p This looks so cute. Such a good idea and the mixture of florals looks great! We have the same boots. Does that make us the coolest people ever? probably. I also have that exact same shade of teal tights. I love them and I need to wear them soon!
ReplyDeletefloral on floral actually sounds just about right :) pulls together so nicely. great tights and I am the biggest fans of your amazing boots! just read "the blessing", the description and imagery is amazing. great poem.

Ah. So many bold things going on! I admire anyone who mixes any number of prints/bright colors because that's incredibly scary to me. But you look lovely :) I have tights like that too! But I always wear them with neutrals. I'm thinking I should possibly rethink that. heh.

This looks so very cute on you, I'd probably never be brave enough to mix florals but this looks adorable from head to toe.

girrrrl i'll come redo your room, if i can share your clothes. seriously. i haven't seen you repeat anything. and if you do, every outfit is so unique and amazing.
ReplyDeleteHaha, you and me and the floral on floral action (sounds worse). Looks comfy though. And coming home in the middle of the day is deadly. I never get anything done when I do that...
ReplyDeleteLove the blue dress, is that a flower print as well? :)
ReplyDeleteI love how you mixed patterns. It looks wonderful! I should try mixing two dresses at once. You pulled it off well- I thought the dress underneath was a top :-) I hate long days of class. But sometimes it is better just to get them all over and done with. xoxo
ReplyDeleteWow!! You have a really great blog and your outfits are so cute and creative! I just saw you featured over on adventures in fashion so I thought I'd check you out... and I'm so glad I did! New follower =) Hope you'll follow me back!
