So I Guess I'll Hope

August 10

It's so strange to see summer coming to an end. In about two and a half weeks I'll be running around my college campus and interviewing for classes. Don't get me wrong, I've had a long summer and I don't feel like it's going too quickly. The tricky thing about time, though, is that happened months ago can feel like it happened just last week, and vice versa. I feel like there's so much I wanted to accomplish that I just never did: Bake and cook more, teach yourself to sew, exercise while you have the time, write write write. I think that's how it is every summer, though. There's always a big list of summer plans, and no matter how much of them you actually do, there's always more you could have done. I'm hoping to make the most of these last few days of summer, finishing up a few writing and craft projects, seeing friends, FINALLY seeing Harry Potter (I think I'm the only HP fan on the planet who hasn't yet), and baking cheddar rosemary muffins, among other things. It's just that there's so much uncertainty about the first few months of school that summer just pleasantly lacks. Will I get into the classes I want? Will I get the job I want so desperately? I'm not good with lacking control, and in the summer I feel like I can do what I want, when I want for the most part. The most I can do about my classes and job is hope, you know? So I guess I'll hope.

  1. This is definitely one of my top favourite outfits of yours, everything about it is lovely! The bright colours, the pleated skirt, the boater hat <3 I know what you mean, I always make grand plans for the summer and never manage to get through all of them. As long as you enjoyed yourself that's all that matters :) x

  3. I guess everyone is like that during Summer; I have all these plans of things that I want to do, and most of them just don´t end up done. It´s really easy to get caught up in all the free time we have and how nice it feels.
For me there´s always a bittersweet felling, when Summer comes to an end. Part of me wishes that it could go on for ever, but then there´s this other part of me that enjoys Autumn and Winter and the beginning of another school year (college this year, eeep!).

  4. This is one of my favorite outfits from you!! I love the blouse! I also feel like summer isn't long enough. But I also have a stupid full time job, so summer is just another season in a year. I haven't even been to the beach this whole summer yet! So sad:(

I hope you get to bake those rosemary cheddar muffins. Those sound super yummy!!

  5. Such a darling outfit!! I'm loving those pleats, and the floral print on that top is seriously cute. I just went shopping the other today and now my closet is exploding with fall colours, eee, can't wait. xo

  6. Pleated skirts are so awesome. That color will transition to fall very nicely. Sad to see summer go! This year is just flying by.

  9. Totally loving all the red in this outfit! This is definitely one of my favorites from you Nicole! That's the thing with Summers--you never did all that you wanted. I was actually just talking to Robert about this yesterday: how I didn't go to a concert or watch a play, and other stuff, but who says these things have to happen during the summer? :) I wish you luck in checking off as many as goals as possible in these last few weeks!

PS. Yes, I really do hope we get time to meet up while I'm over there!

  10. I love this look, Nicole!

I can't believe summer is winding down so soon either. So sad. ; (

I've actually accomplished a reasonable amount this summer, but as you say, there's about four or five other major things I haven't done at all...

  15. That happens with every summer, heck every year! But it's always good to have too many goals! Just imagine not having enough! Anyway giving up control to the universe is hard sometimes, but remember everything happens for a reason :)

And of course hun, you look adorable!
