Girly Girl

August 122

I'm not good at being exceptionally girly. I know, I know. There are goodness knows how many peter pan collars in my closet, and I enjoy them dearly. The thing is, if I wear a peter pan collar, or any other type of super girly accessory or garment, I feel the need to rough the outfit up a bit. I've tried extremely "girly" outfits before - think floral peter pan collar dress, high heels, wingtip eyeliner - and while I like them, I don't feel completely comfortable in them. I probably don't seem much like it on my blog, but I'm not an overly girly girl. Sure, I write poetry and love baking cupcakes, but I also love Super Smash brothers, sitting cross legged, eating said baked cupcakes like a pig, have obnoxious Spongebob singalongs in the car, and having contests over who can burp the loudest/make the ugliest face. And I certainly like those things about myself. So, when I get dressed, I feel most comfortable when I simultaneously look like a girl who writes and bakes, but one who may just beat you in Super Smash Brothers (or throw a tantrum when you beat her). Generally, if I feel too girly, as was the case with the bright pink and red colors in this outfit, I'll throw on some boots or a denim jacket, or, in warmer weather, my favorite (and only) denim vest.
