Yesterday was probably one of my favorite summer days so far. My parents, Zak, my sister and her husband, and I all headed out to Coney Island for the day. A place like Coney Island isn't generally where I like to hang out - lots of loud music, lots of people, lots of greasy food - but I actually had a lot of fun there. There's a lovely beach and a very kitschy boardwalk, so I had a good time snapping photos!
If you're following me on twitter, you probably saw all the melodrama over my hair. I wanted to bleach and dye my whole head a very light brown, but ended up with highlights that I'm not a big fan of. You can see in these pictures (unfortunately) how streaky it looks. Like I've been half-heartedly explaining to friends and family for the past two days, it's not so much the hairstyle, it's just that's it's not what I want. I'm hoping to get back in the salon sometime this week or next week to get the dye job I really want. Generally, I just go with the flow and trust my hairdresser on what to do with my hair, but I suppose I should have stood up for myself this time. Ah, well. It's a learning experience, and hopefully I'll end up with what I really want soon enough.

I was way off when I guessed you were going blonde! Maybe it's just me, but I don't really notice the streaks in these photos. I do see that the color looks much lighter!
ReplyDeleteDid you purposely dress to match the boardwalk? You've got this cool laid back vintage look going on. Whether or not you did, this is a very cute look!
I don't notice the streaks either, just that the color is lighter. But I know how it feels when something isn't right in your own eyes :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a great time!
love these pictures - what a great location! looks so fun.. you look so chic and cool! and your hair looks fine, dear! though i totally understand how it is, when you're expecting one thing and get something totally different. it can be really crushing. hair is so personal. can't wait to see the final product once all the dying is done!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos and I'm loving your adorable stripes & denim skirt combo, really pretty!! As for the hair? It looks fantastic to me, really like the lighter bits. But I understand how hard it is when you don't get what you were hoping for, it's definitley happened to me. Hope your Sunday is a lovely one. xx veronika
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are great ! Just discovered your blog but loving it already :D ! I'm going to follow you and look around ;) ! xx
ReplyDeletei actually think your hair looks great! but everyone views themselves differently. i love this outfit...it reminds me that i need to get more striped shirts. what a cutie you are! sounds like an awesome day.

I can't really see the streaks exactly, and your hair definitely looks fine from blog distance. But stand up for yourself anyway. I'm furious with my hair because I cut my own bangs and one side's longer than the other but I don't trust myself to do it again. ; D
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is very you and very perfect!
i want to go to coney island. ahh.
ReplyDeletei have never been..look like you had a fabulous time.
i love your hair..i can not even see any streaks.
you look beautiful Nicole..<3
have a wonderful upcoming week.
This is one of my favorite outfits I've seen on you! It looks great! I love all the shots of Coney Island. It looks like a lot of fun... like a fair that's open year long! I think your hair looks really good... it's almost more red!
ReplyDeleteY'all are so cute! I really like your outfit, and I don't think your hair looks streaky, but good luck! I hope you get what you want soon! :)
ReplyDeleteI really don't know for sure what color you're going for, but this one looks great on you! I swear... I am not trying to just give random compliments to everyone... I actually saw it and loved it, but maybe you have an idea of a better color! But again, just so you know, you look great right now :) you seriously do!
ReplyDeleteIt's so cool you have so many places to visit over there! Every time you go somewhere I feel I get a taste of the place just by seeing the pictures you take! :)
Ah, bad hair colorings are the worst! But honestly I think it looks good! And it's fun to experiment : )
ReplyDeleteAlso, this is an AMAZING outfit! I'm adding it to my pinterest as soon as they get the website up and running again. I've also never to been to Coney Island. It's on the list!
I can't see any streaks in the photos, but that sucks! I hate when hairdressers don't listen to you. :/
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I've always wanted to go to Coney Island! I stalked a few of the photos you were tagged in on facebook & it looks so colorful & fun!
Also, I got the dress!! I love it & I think I will wear it tomorrow when I actually have a possible chance of getting some photos in (craaazy busy lately!). Your little note made me smile. :)
I've always dreamed of going to Coney Island! There's something slightly touristy but still magical about the place. I love these photos of you, and you're certainly braver than I am to have your picture taken with all those people around. (I feel like a complete nut when people stare at me while I take outfit photos!)
ReplyDeleteIt drives me crazy when hairdressers don't listen to what I actually want. Fortunately for me, my current hairdresser is also a dear friend who I trust completely. It's so tough to find your perfect stylist.
This is such a lovely post :D I love how busy and bustling it is behind you, and all of the photos and of course, your outfit. It's so scary though, to change up your hair. Since it's with you all of the time. I want to go to a canivally place. Might later in the summer :)
ReplyDeletei don't notice the streaks at all! a lot of hairdresers do that when you go from dark to light. it'll take time, but it'll get there. you look so cute! i love that illustration that looks like something from the marvelous misadventures of flapjack.
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun.
ReplyDeleteOh Nicole dear, you look absolutely lovely and so happy! These photos are so fantastic and make me miss the fair! I can't see any streaks (like a lot of the rest of the comments above) but I'm sure your hair will turn out amazing in the end. It is quite a process to go from dark to light <3 Can't wait to see the final product though!
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are gorgeous! love the skirt! and your Ray Ban
