Rainy Day Daydream

IMG_6970edit

Hello there! This weather has caused my most recent posts to turn into a series on how to style loud, clashy rain boots. Today's been incredibly gross and rainy, just like yesterday, so I pulled out the rain boots again. Since I liked how yesterday's outfit turned out, I was determined to find a decent way to style the boots. This yellow dress is quite old and too big, so I hardly wear it, but I felt like wearing something ironically bright today. Also, the dress kind of reminded me of those classic yellow rain coats. I think it turned out alright, though it is a bit riskier than yesterday's monochrome look. So what do you think? How would you style these boots?

Dress: Macy's
Jean jacket: Salvation Army
Hat: Modcloth
Boots: DSW, I think

  1. Well, this rainy-day outfit is certainly a lot cuter than mine! I generally can't be bothered to wear anything but jeans on damp, dreary days. Although, I should definitely win some sort of prize for having the clashiest (yep, I made that word up) rain boots ever. They're mostly green with an abstract floral print, and they always got me lots of stares back in college. ;)

Sorry for the rambling comment! What I really mean to say is that you look adorable and cheery, and I am very jealous of your ability to pull off hats.

  2. I love that the yellow dress is so sunny! It rained here today too but I usually stick to comfy clothes on rainy days. I don't usually "style" my rainboots. I just wear them when it's raining... even if they don't match.

  3. It's so bright and cheerful! You look great in bright yellow. I hope the sun pokes out soon for you:)

  4. I guess it's riskier in that it's brighter, but I think all the brights go so well together that it's just, as Emily above says, "cheerful." Love it, Nicole!

  5. You have always the most fun outfits! And sweet ones too, look at this, yellow dress and polkadot wellies is the perfect combo tuned down a bit with the denim jacket. Really great Nicole!

  6. Such a fun outfit for such a lousy day!! I usually give up on trying to style my rain boots and just pretend that they don't exist, while I'm wearing them. lol

  7. You look great in yellow, and I feel like rain boots are so hard to style. You pull them off well.

  13. I like the clash of different patterns and colors. Sure brightens up an extremely dreary, gross day! It's been raining here a lot this week, too. Who says April showers bring May flowers? I'd say May showers bring June over-heat stroke!

  14. Who needs sunshine when that dress is around???? I loooooooove bright, sunshiny yellow! Even when it's paired with your cute little rain boots. I'd say you paired them together wonderfully.
