Learning To Fly

IMG_6876edit

Hello there! So, I am halfway done with my last day of school, and completely done with my work for the semester! It's a pretty strange feeling, really. This semester flew by, and I know time is just going to keep whizzing by faster and faster as I get older. I had a moment of calm this morning while driving to school, as Tom Petty's "Learning to Fly" played on the radio, and in that small moment, I felt like things were going to be fine. Summer will be great. If I don't get a job I can volunteer, which will be just s if not more rewarding. I have an internship, and I need to give it my all. Then I got to school and got all nervous about turning in my work, but that moment did give me a nice little sense of calm that I hope to carry with me today, and for the rest of the summer.

So, for this outfit I was completely inspired by this post by the lovely Shy of Chesterfield! I was having a slow day, but the weather out was amazing, I wanted to get dressed up for a walk outside. When I saw how Shy tied her chambray shirt over her cute floral skirt, I totally wanted to try the look for myself, though apparently in reverse, since my skirt is chambray and my blouse is floral! Anyway, Zak and I generally take walks together around my neighborhood, and frankly my little city neighborhood is pretty boring and gray, so when we see beautiful houses, they really stand out. This house is one of them. It's beautiful and has an awesome yard with a stone table and chairs set. It's really great, so I decided to take photos in front of it. So here are my outfit photos, in front of a house that is awesome, but not mine.

  3. WHAT A COINCIDENCE. I also talked about my last week of school and also wore a blouse/button down tied at the waist exactly like that in my last post. I think we're kindred spirits lol!

  11. This is cute! I really love the shoes too:) I love posing in front of neighbor's houses that are prettier/fancier than mine is! It's a nice way to break up the monotony of fashion blogging.

  12. AH. I've been seeing people tying blouses like this over dresses a lot lately, which was something I'd never even thought about doing before. Because I'm uncreative and a copycat (I sort of copied your school girl ness from your last post in my most recent one. HA). But in short, I want to try it to. It might breathe some life into my assortment of older, highschool aged dresses that I never wear anymore.

    Love your shoooes too :D

  15. When I first read the title of your post, I thought it was about Pink Floyd´s song "Learning to fly"; I guess I was wrong. Although I did enjoy Tom Petty´s song very much. I can see why you felt a certain sense of relief while listening to his song.
I have been having similar feelings about school as well. I am still in high school, and I am about to graduate. I don´t want it to end. My high school years were great.
So I kinda of understand how you are feeling.
