In Which I Make A Mockery of the Menswear Trend

IMG_6810edit

Hello there! This is just going to be a quick little post, because I really should be working on my poetry manuscript right now. My bloggy presence this week is going to be pretty much sparse and spotty (and alliterative?) because this is my last week of school. Eep! I'm actually not as excited as I hoped I would be. This is the first summer where I'm not longing for lazy days and relaxation. I have an internship, thank goodness, but I'm also hoping to find a job for the summer as well. Part of me wishes school kept going for the summer because I have this really strong urge to keep doing things and keep learning things. Strange, right? haha

Anyway, I wore this outfit last Friday. This glorious tuxedo sweater used to be my dad's when he was young and clearly hip. I've never worn it out because, frankly, it's so silly, but I got this strong urge to wear it the other day, so wear it I did. I realized quickly that with the tuxedo sweater and hat I was sort of doing a ridiculous take on menswear, but I think I'm okay with that.

Plaid shirt: Delia's
Tuxedo sweater: Dad's
Jeans: Urban Outfitters
Hat: Modcloth
Sandals: Steve Madden

  1. haha I LOVE THIS! That sweater is awesome and adorable. I really love the last picture. And your hat is the cutest rawerrr!! I have a mock sailor sweater like this and my boyfriend makes fun of it so badly. Every time I wear it he's like, "What are you supposed to be? A witty, nautical, hipster or something??" He means it lovingly of course, though. hahaha. Or so I tell myself.

  4. So silly only cute girls can wear tuxedo sweaters. I've been meaning to comment on your blog for ages, mostly regarding education and how stressful it can be, and how that can make you lose sight of why it's all worth working for. But, you seem to be in a better place now, even wishing you could study through the break! So I'm happy to hear that, now spread your intellectual cheer onto me!

  9. How cute are you?! I love how tongue-in-cheek this outfit is. And I can completely understand feeling a bit bookish--like you want to keep studying and learning. I graduated college in 2009, and sometimes I wish I could just keep accumulating degrees (tuition costs be darned)!

  10. The tuxedo sweater is so awesome on you. Priceless. With that hat, you look like one stylish male!! (jk) I love it. I want to try a preppy guy look, complete with slouch hat and oxfords.

  17. AH. That's so amazing that that was your dad's :D My dad was clearly not that awesome. He was a nerdy skinny boy who wore plaid collared shirts every day of his life :) Love the plaid peeping out :)
