Clothing Chameleon

IMG_6806edit

So, for a while there I felt like my outfits were for the most part coherent, like they all had a similar style. Well, that's just gone out the window now hasn't it? Yesterday's outfit was kind of boyish and quirky, and now this outfit is super girly (and currently I'm wearing a tuxedo sweater? The madness!). Honestly, it's a tad too girly for me without the jean jacket added for some toughness. I almost didn't wear the dress/white blouse combination because it felt a little too much like a milk maid/fairy princess for my taste, but alas, I was running late this morning. Though I don't know what my particular "style" is yet, I do know that I don't feel quite like myself in anything too "girly". I like to have a balance in my outfits, so most of my favorite looks I've put together for myself are somewhere in the middle. What would you say your personal style is, though that's a tough question to answer?

Also, just a little dorky note to any of you who watch/adore How I Met Your Mother: Have you guys seen the episode where the group makes fun of Ted for not being able to pronounce chameleon? Oh goodness, it's all I could think of as I misspelt the word eight times in the post title before getting it write. That is all.

Blouse, belt: Delia's

  1. What a pretty little dress!! I don't really try to define my style, I just wear what I like and what makes me feel good. I just say it's "eclectic" (hence the name of my blog). :D

  2. AH. how can you possibly ask us that question? I guess I'd say that mine is pretty girly, though I always try to balance it out somehow. I prefer matchy-matchy to eclectic. I prefer softer, or more neutral color palettes. And yeah... that's all I've got.

I am in LOVE with the collar on that dress. I go into Forever 21 every once in a while, but never find anything so cute as that. I guess I just give up way too early.

  3. Love the print on that dress, looks so pretty on you, great color for the tights unexpected but pops out beautifully! Happy friday!

  4. I am so happy that I copied you and bought that same exact dresss bwahahaha. I'm soo sneaky. I have been looking for an adorable Peter Pan collar dress FOREVER and this made all my dreams come true. I was so sad that I couldn't find it, but alas it appeared in my local F21 and I tackled down 9 women to snag it. I was surprised at how cheap it was!

anyway, you look adorable in that dress and jean jacket. The pin is the coolest. And I know you just CAN'T wait until I wear it. I think i'll break it out on Mother's Day ;)

  5. I'm with you... I try to avoid too many things that are too girly. Hence my frustration with the number of flower prints vs. the number of other prints that are out there. I don't really try to toughen my looks though, I just like to simplify them, or quirkify them.

Anyway, despite all that, I actually would wear the dress with the blouse! Maybe with some oxfordy ankle boots though! Lookin good!

  6. awww, the fox pin is SO cute. I actually really like the dress with the top underneath... doesn't look milkmaid-ish to me! :)

Every time I start to think I've got my style nailed down, it changes, so I try not to label it at all. haha.

  8. I love love love your dress. I'm vulnerable to anything peter-pan collar attached :)And the pattern is so cute.

I like to dress as a boy a lot. It's fun. I can easily pass as a boy by hiding my hair under a baseball cap.

  10. you look beautiful! i have no idea what i would call my "style." i definitely have a lot of different tastes, and i like experimenting with different styles. i know that i'll forever and always be drawn to vintage styles, and old fashioned details, so maybe that's the foundation of my personal style. anyway..i would totally wear your outfit today! it's sweet, (without being too girly!) ;)

  11. I'm kind of like you- I just haven't really gotten a grasp of what my own personal style is yet. But that could be a good thing! Style to me is all about personal comfort and is completely dependent on the mood and day. Some days I want to dress like a tom boy, others I want bows and lace.

I posted a link to my friend Lisa to your Easter Day blog post. She was trying to find a cute dress to get from F21, and I suggested the one you wore in this post and that one.... and thought that she would've liked to see it styled as well. And, lets be honest, your outfits are always pretty gosh darn cute!

  13. I really like the white top with your dress, and it is really feminine. You always look great in super feminine pieces. I love How I met your mother! Late last night the one where Ted goes blond was on. The only thing I don't like is it feels like we are never going to meet the mother.

  14. I actually think you're style is quite girly with quirky touches, but not too girly though! Anyway, I wouldn't worry much about it since it's lovely. But agreed, the denim jacket is the perfect touch to keep it "tougher".
    Have a nice weekend!

  17. My style is utterly crazy... I wear what I feel like wearing, I guess! :-)

I almost bought this dress but it was too saccharine for me... you just proved me wrong! I love how you toughed it up a little! Gorgeous.

  18. style is so tough to define. While my own is a work in progress, undefined I enjoy yours. you put such wonderful items together in a way that is you. the dress is terrific and the denim does add some edge.

  20. I wouldn't even know where to start when describing my style. So many words come to mind, no actual theme or anything. All over the place. Ha! Love this look.

  25. This is one of my favorite dresses I've seen you in so I'm glad you're styling it up different ways. I have maroon tights and they're my absolute favorite. I haven't seen that episode of HIMYM but it sounds so funny! That show is the best!
