Crown of Leaves

june 1 1

I may just have to cancel this blog until September, guys, because I kind of just want to wear this outfit everyday over the summer. And this being a "daily style/uncomfortably personal confessions" blog, I think you guys would probably get tired of seeing the same outfit. And I generally try to temper my uncomfortably personal confessions with decent, new outfits so you guys can look at the pictures and rapidly scroll past my long-winded memoirs. Okay, so I probably won't wear this outfit everyday, but I can't make any promises. I picked up this skirt at a store called Mars Vintage while shopping with Elanor in Berkeley. I love the pattern, and the length, and how flowy it is. It may in fact be my "dream skirt," if I were to have envisioned that sort of thing.

Now that I'm back from my first big trip of the summer, I'm excited to get started on some new projects. My internship search has been just that: a search. Unfortunately I've found the internships I want, but they don't want me apparently. While I'll still keep the search up, I also plan on trying to use my extra time this summer learning and being creative. I'm definitely going to learn how to sew (with a machine) and hopefully make another skirt, all on my own. I also came up with a fun little literary craft that I'm going to try to start on today. I definitely want to start writing again. That may be my number one personal priority (it's at least number 3). I haven't really written anything in about a month, and that's a scary length of time to just not have had any poetic thoughts worth scribbling or typing down. I may start seeking out prompts, because a prompt could lead you somewhere entirely weird and un-prompt related. And some of my favorite stuff I've written so far has come out of school assignments. We'll see, I suppose! What do you guys want to do this summer?

  3. Love love this outfit. I am a sucker for a denim shirt, and a denim shirt that is button up sleeveless? Oh. My. Gosh. I want it. The whole outfit is super cute and you should where it every day.
As for this summer I'd like to write as well, and possibly volunteer somewhere. I'd like to cook more and I'll be doing some traveling too. I'm also going to start meditating. Hopefully that can keep my anxiety down as I tend to make situations more stressful than they need to be.

  10. I wouldn't blame you for wearing it all summer and would TOTALLY still read your blog. I get like that sometimes, when an outfit is just too good to not wear every. single. day. Good luck with the internships and everything...I know it can be stressful, but a little time to focus on other projects can be good for your spirit.

just do it. wear it every day for as long as you recognise yourself in it! i love people who wear pretty much the same outfit all the time, it looks so distinctive, iconic even. immortalised like a cartoon character.

meanwhile it is SNOWING outside my window but I will be in the USA in two weeks time for a holiday and if you think you spot your doppelganger swanning around new york in that very outfit, it might be me! because i'm not beyond copying cool people, aint that how the world works? from the catwalk to the store to the blog to the pavement.

what kind of internships have you been looking for? this whole situation reminds me of hannah in Girls.. do you watch it?!!1?

  17. HELLO I'm not a prolific commenter so I'm going to combine a bunch of things I have wanted to say from past posts: 1) the post with your sister where you couldn't keep a straight face for the photos (I think? It was quite a while ago) made me smile SO MUCH. 2) YOU WENT TO BERKELEY! MY HOOD! (Sort of. My adopted hood.) I really like Mars Vintage but I've never bought anything there. Those tiny spiral staircases are treacherous though. 3) I like the print and cut of your skirt a lot. Also your sandals. 4) Internships :( I wish you luck. I'm doing an unpaid one right now (which I'm okay with because it's a startup, and strictly speaking I'm learning on the job because I don't have a formal marketing or journalism background), but man, is it hard to find something that's a) a good fit, b) paid, and c) attainable. BUT I HAVE FAITH IN YOUR COVER LETTER WRITING ABILITIES! (I feel like that's my strong point when it comes to applying, because my resume sure isn't.) Anyway, I wish you luck, and remember your blog might be more effective as a selling point than you might think. :)

  18. YOu look amazing in this outfit, Nicole. And anyway, the reason that summer is so awesome is that you can wear the exact same thing every day and still feel good about yourself. :)

  19. These are really great photos and the location is amazing and I love the outfit on you!!! I hope your searching for an internship ends soon and that you'll do a great job wherever you get an internship at. Also, for summer. . .I just want to spend time with my family and my two best friends who I rarely see!
