When There's A Burning in Your Heart

DSC_0428

Some days, wearing an old band tee is easiest way to feel comfortable and happy. After a night of very little sleep and very many thoughts, waking up to a chilly Monday, I just wanted something simple (and, apparently, I wanted to wear every shade of brown known to man). This is a concert tee from a Death Cab show I went to in 2006 (goodness, that's a long time ago now) and it's one of my favorite band tees. I've given most of my old ones away, some have been stored away incase someday I have awesome kids who like music I liked, and a few stay tucked safe in my closet for days like today. What's your go to comforting garment?

Sweater: Zara, Skirt: Urban Outfitters, Boots: Famous Footwear, Tights: Asos

  1. Aw, you look so cozy! You're rocking that stylish-without-trying look that I can never seem to achieve, and I love the color of your tights! My go-to comforting garment is definitely one of my striped tops. I have one from Madewell that I hemmed and hawed about buying, but it's probably the single most worn thing in my closet. Oh, and a pretty necklace. I feel like most of my lazier outfits can be remedied with a pretty necklace. ;)

  7. Love it! The whole outfit and all the browns is just downright cool. I need to take a lesson here and "cutefy" some of my band tees by pairing them with a skirt and cardi just like this. I wish I would have saved more of them tees..I still have a few tucked away too.

  8. True story: every time Death Cab has come out with a new album, I've started a new relationship. I couldn't make this up, it's too weird.
I read your tweet about the girl talking to you about the tour! Band tees are such a good conversation piece. I'd totally wanna come chat with you too (even if I didn't already know you).
My go to comfort piece is this oversized black 80's unicorn tee I've had forever.
PS--I love the colors in this outfit. Yesterday was the perfect day for a cord skirt.

  11. We need to have a coordinating death cab t-shirt day. i have a narrow stairs t-shirt that i got in december of 2008 i think? once, when i was living in the dorms, i was wearing that shirt and the cutest boy talked to me for a few minutes about DCFC. i basically fell in love with him and then never saw him again! oh well. ANYWAY. all of the shades of brown paired with that skirt look so wonderful together! so very "fall" :)
