Bright Pink

DSC_0424

After work on Friday, I headed into the city for some quality sister time. We ended up doing two of my most favorite activities: eating and shopping. We walked around midtown, went to a few stores I rarely get to go to - Urban Outfitters, Zara, Levi's - and I ended up getting some new Levi's that I am currently wearing just around the house because they are simply too comfy for me not to do so (I wore them out yesterday, too, if that makes it less ridiculous). Afterwards, Cheryl and Mike took me out to a RIDICULOUSLY FANCY restaurant called David Burke Townhouse. It was so fancy it made me slightly uncomfortable. Like, I may have almost eaten a wet-nap because I thought it was a fancy mint, fancy. Or like, there may have been a FERRIS WHEEL OF DONUTS for dessert, fancy. Fancy fancy fancy. Despite my, uh, near wet-nap slip up, the food was yummy, and it was certainly one of the most fun, entertaining dinners I've had.

I got this bright pink skirt from that big ol' Modcloth sale that just happened. It had been sitting on my wish list for months and months, but at eighty dollars it was not making its way to my wardrobe anytime soon. It was reduced to 20 during the sale, and even though pink really isn't much of a fall color, I bought it. It's a fun little skirt, and it'll be interesting to see if I can make it fall/winter appropriate, since I didn't do a very good job of it this time. I look like a bit like an Easter egg, but that's okay, because I liked the outfit anyway.

  1. Aw, that skirt is so you! i love it! I think you'll be able to make it more fall-ish. Especially with tights and cardigans and layers! And a ferris wheel of doughnuts!?! that's the coolest thing ever.

  4. Love the skirt! I honestly think anything can become "Fall" or "Spring" with the right styling :) Pink and black are always good together so it'll be easy to make this "Fall-ish" with some black tights!

  5. Easter egg? Haha. No, you look adorable. Even though the skirt is pink, I think it still could work for fall. Very cute. I like the top too!

  6. This is really cute! That shade of pink looks so nice on you, and of course I love the top since I own it too (in red). I wish I had bought it in white as well!

I just had to check Google images for the donut ferris wheel, and I think I found the one you're talking about: http://www.themostboringblogever.com/2009/10/injectible-donut-ferris-wheel.html

  8. The skirt is super cute, and I think you can definitely fall-ize it with shades of mustard or cranberry...

I have to say, posh restaurants is the sort of uncomfortable I could get used to. I've been to one or two and I actually think they're worth the money, since it's as much about the experience and presentation as the (generally excellent) food.

  9. Ah, sister time is the very best! My sister and I just went vintage-ing today, and I found a ballerina printed (!!) 50's skirt. I am convinced that magical things happen during sister time.

Your outfit is completely adorable. I love all the girly details--the peter pan collar, polka dots, and vibrant skirt. I don't think you look like an Easter egg! Heck, I dress like a 6-year-old half the time and have decided to just go ahead and embrace it. ;)

  10. Posh restaurants make me so uncomfortable.. I'm sort of a loud chewer so I'm afraid to eat. Long story, but remind me to tell you about the time we went to the fancy place in Nashville.

Aside, you look so beautiful. <3

  12. Ha...yes, really upscale restaurants make me squirm a bit too though I will eat up the opportunity to go to them any chance I can. Sounds like a perfect day out. Your sherbet colored skirt is quite cheerful and I am really loving the special little details on you. Gorgeous as always Nicole!!

  15. Very cute ensemble! So girly and pretty.

Too fancy restaurant are always a little intimidating, but it's fun to go out of our comfort zone too! Between the eating and the shopping, sounds like a great night!

Hope you have a good week!

  17. Well, I must say that we share the two best activities known to mankind, so no worries. I would seriously befriend you so hard and never let you go, and if that's sounds gross I do apologize, but it's true :) and your outfit is super lovely as usual
