Whenever I tell people how much I love Mama Cass, and it's been quite a frequent occurance lately, they kind of just chuckle at me. Then, I force them to listen to her greatest hits record, and they start tapping their toes secretively and mumble, "Well I guess it's not that bad." I picked up one of her records at the Amoeba in Berkeley a few months ago, and I've been hooked since. Her music is fun, simple, and well said. Her music has been quite helpful in recent weeks, particularly because she's so hopeful and sure things will get better. The first song I heard of hers was Make Your Own Kind of Music (her outfit is fantastic in that video) which is a wonderful song and always puts me in a good mood. After seeing a few videos of her performing, I saw that she had a really cool style. Her outfits are often composed of bright patterns and colors, knee-high gogo boots, and loose, flowing dresses. So, though I don't have nearly as cool a wardrobe as she seemed to have had, I decided to put together an outfit inspired by Mama Cass the best I could. While I don't know how much I look like Mama Cass, I think I at least got the decade sort of right. Here's what I came up with:

If anyone's interested, a few more recommendations for some of her songs that I love are Move In A Little Closer, Baby, It's Getting Better, and Don't Let The Good Life Pass You By, though they're all delightful.

Until tomorrow,
