Down by the Pier

Hello! Today's been such a busy day! We went down to Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39, and it was incredibly crowded. The whole pier was swarming with people and scents of delicious food. While I'm really not much for crowds, today was a lot of fun and I got to experience a lot of really cool things.

First, my boyfriend and I rented bikes and rode them up and down the Oakland Pier



Then we headed over to Fisherman's Wharf, where we went to the aquarium and saw some waving starfish



Then we walked along the boardwalk and saw a ton a seals. They were being silly and laying on top of each other



Then we headed to this old fashioned arcade with tons of cool things. We played a racing game



And took old fashioned photo booth pictures



Then we headed to boudin bakery to get some sourdough bread. We saw a few extra cute loaves...



Eventually we went to Ghiradelli Square where we bought chocolates and I took an outfit photo

Such a busy day! My feet are so achy, and I'm going to lay down and rest. Tomorrow is going to be a pretty calm day in comparison to this one. I'm pretty sure we're going to be doing some shopping, and I'm hoping to find a good pair of jeans since it's been much colder than I expected here.

So Glad to Meet You, San Francisco

Hello! So, today was my first full day in San Francisco and it's absolutely amazing. Yesterday, we arrived here after an actually lovely flight. I wasn't as scared as I thought I would be, and surprisingly had a good time. Today was spent running around to a bunch of places in San Francisco. This city is so beautiful! I figured I would show you my day through pictures, since I'm a little exhausted at the moment. So,

First, we walked around by the Oakland Pier, which is close to our hotel. We saw some palm trees



and sat on a bench!



Then we headed into San Francisco, where we had some tea and then rode a carousel near the Metreon. I rode a giraffe, of course



Then we headed to Japan Town where we shopped in wonderful, cute stores. I even found this little guy

Then we headed over to the Castro, which was beautiful. I've always wanted to see it



We did a ton of driving around town trying to find Lombard Street (which we did eventually drive down and it was fantastic). I was so fascinated by the houses here, they're so beautiful!



We went to Haight Ashbury to do some shopping. There were some amazing boutiques and thrift stores that I didn't get to visit, but I believe we're going back there soon. We did, however, do some shopping in the Amoeba





We ended the day at a lovely Moroccan restaurant. It was dark and cozy, so I don't have any really good pictures. Tomorrow's going to be a bit more laid back I believe. I think we're going to do a bit of shopping, and maybe go to a museum. I'm excited!

Unexpected

Hey there, guys. I had planned to snap a few outfit photos yesterday to post today, but I actually ended up getting into a car accident. I'm okay, my arm was hurting a bit yesterday since the other driver hit right into my driver's side door, but I'm mostly just upset rather than physically hurt, thankfully. As I like to do in lame situations, I tried to find something positive in this experience, and I did. Tomorrow I'm flying on a plane for the first time, and I've been worrying for the last week. I worry about everything. Absolutely everything. Almost. I can honestly say that I did not worry about having a car accident. I'm a careful driver (which stems from my worrying ways), and the accident was not my fault. The fact that I didn't worry about this, but it still happened just shows me how useless worrying is. People always tell me not to worry, but this experience is actually helping those words sink in. I just want to say, or make a plea actually, please don't talk on your cell phones while driving. I never have and never will, but the woman who hit me was.

It fits wonderfully, and it is my first two piece/bikini-ish swimsuit ever, which is exciting.

Anyway, I hope you guys have great weeks. I'm leaving for California tomorrow, but I am taking my computer and plan to update a few times while out there with some fun pictures. You may even get a post tomorrow with a photobooth photo of me on the plane looking terrified, if you're lucky.

Hey there, Mr. Blue

Hello! I hope you all had lovely holidays and, if you don't celebrate, lovely weekends! These photos are actually from yesterday, since today will be filled with running around doing errands and packing for California. I leave Wednesday and I'm a little terrified, but also incredibly excited. I've never been to California, I've never even been on a plane! Anyway, I didn't intend to wear so much blue yesterday. I wanted to go for a more classic look with a white top and seersucker skirt, but I ended up liking this blue top looked with the skirt, not to mention it was super comfortable which was important for a day spent eating BBQ and cupcakes. Majestically, I weighed myself this morning and I'm finally in the 150's! It's I'll come back from vacation eight million pounds. But I feel more like celebrating the now than fretting (which is rare for me). Are you guys going anywhere or taking any fun trips this summer?

Anchors Away

Incase you needed anymore evidence that I am both a sailer and a grandma, may I present to you this outfit.



Yes, those are pull on capris with tiny anchors all over them. Yes, I'm wearing them. Let me begin with a few shallow attempts to justify these pants to society. A few days ago, I was in Sears, and absolutely everything seemed to be on sale. From across the room, I spotted these babies. All I could see was a cute nautical print, not that they were in the grandma's section, or that the waist was sky high, or that they were elastic waist. Just some cute anchors. They were very reasonable, and not to mention the most comfortable pants in all the world, so I decided to purchase them.




Then the question of how to style them came up. Oh, boy. After trying on a plethora of navy, white, red, and even floral (mistake) tops, I decided on a simple red top that wouldn't take away from the glory of these nautical grandma pants.



These pants represent a huge reason that I love fashion. Sometimes, you fall in love with an article of clothing, like, oh I don't know, a pair of pull on anchor capris that may or may not be sold with a matching shirt, that just...isn't quote fashionable unquote. But that article of clothing is fantastic, so you buy it anyway. Then there comes the challenge of making said item presentable to society, and that challenge is so fun and rewarding, because you put together combinations of clothes you would have never thought of. Then, you get the opportunity to wear your creation, your unique creation, outside, in the real world. And some may look at you and think you're a stupid idiot, and whisper to their walking partner to look over at that girl, wearing ANCHOR PANTS. But it doesn't matter, and you don't care, because you, my friend, are rocking that unique article of clothing and you're happy with who you are.



I probably won't update tomorrow, so I hope you all have a wonderful fourth of July and take the time to wear the hell out of your anchor pants.

I know you have a heavy heart, I can feel it when we kiss

I can't explain to you how I got interested in Jewish culture and history, because I'm still unsure myself. I can just tell you that I am interested. I actually find it fascinating. Last year, I was lucky enough to take a class on the subject, and learning so much about it just made me even more interested. Today, I met up with a friend in the city to go to the Jewish Museum. Honestly, it was a wonderful experience. The floors were organized like one big timeline, combined with ancient, and modern, artifacts as well as some really, really moving art pieces. Today has easily been the most thought provoking day of my summer so far, and if you're ever in NYC, I highly suggest a visit.

It Happened One Night

Today, I had some friends over for a lovely classic movie marathon. How many wonderful classics did we watch, you ask? A whopping...one. Yeah, the whole "marathon" aspect of the get together didn't exactly pan out, but it was a lot of fun anyway. The one film we did end up watching was, you guessed it, It happened one night. Almost all of my friends and I were in a class in high school called film history, where we watched silent films all the way up to more modern day films. It Happened One Night was one of them. It's a super cute case of miscommunication, basically, and it stars Clark Gable, who is, frankly, a total dream boat. The rest of the night was spent reminiscing and playing silly games (aka, my favorite kind of nights). A little funny note about my outfit today: I actually wore a very similar version of this outfit back in high school to an award ceremony. It was the first outfit I really put together creatively, and it's pretty much an ol' reliable of my closet. Maybe I'll include a picture of the original at the end of my post!
