Even before I realized how breezy and delicious today's weather intended to be, I made up my mind that I was going to try and take my own outfit photos today. So, after spending the afternoon at work (I just want to take this moment to document that there were horse stickers at work today. Someone sent us mail with two horse stickers on it. That is all), I set out to find the Tarrytown Reservoir. I've shown you guys this place once before on my blog, and even though I don't get to hang out here that often, it's really pretty wonderful. The little platform where I took these photos is right by the water, and if you look out, past the sea plants and garbage, there are ducks, swans, fish, tadpoles, and ribbeting frogs all hanging out. It's a nice little spot to take in the warm glow, and I wish I had the forethought to bring a book with me. As silly as it sounds, one of the things on my list of things to accomplish on my own is taking decent outfit photos. Considering that I have a blog, I think it's a good goal to have, a good step to take toward being more independent and being able to depend more on my own abilities. These photos aren't perfect, but I like them, and I liked trying out different angles and techniques until I found something that sort of worked.
Until tomorrow,
Nicole
I admire your ability to go out and take these outfits pictures on your own-- for one, they're fabulous, and two, you're super brave to do so! I could so easily take my own pictures by the little school I usually take them since it's empty, but it's easier with momma there, haha. So yeah, congrats on a step to independence wiooohoohohoo!
ReplyDeleteI like the color of those pants. It's a rather nice color. Rust? Orange? Red? Whatever it is, it's quite nice :D :D
gorgeous photos! they always turn out so well. these days i don't do the tripod anymore it's usually so frustrating for me!
ReplyDeleteThese photos are so serene and beautiful Nicole! I think curling up on this little platform with a good book sounds like a splendiful idea! Of course your outfit is quite perfect as always! I wish I knew how to take my own photos, but I haven't had a single ounce of luck with it yet. I mean, my hubs does a great job, but it would be nice every so often to master it myself. You did a very lovely job here in my opinion:)
ReplyDeleteyay! i love this post and the fact that you want to be independent with your outfit shots, too. :) it takes me forever to get a variety of shots of myself, but i'm sure with practice it will be easier! i love your top - i wish it was warm enough here for no sleeves!

adorable blouse and nice photos too
ReplyDeleteIt's such a beautiful location and I absolutely love your outfit, Nicole! Simple, springlike, perfect. I kind of enjoy taking my outfit pictures on the odd occasion when I do... except for the being in public part, bleaggghhh
ReplyDeleteI totally love this. The outfit is great on you, the location is beautiful, and I am kind of loving your hair especially in that last photo.
ReplyDeleteI'm really enjoying this outfit! Loving the color combination :) also, what beautiful scenery!!

I loveee that top. Good job taking your own photos- I am sooo bad at that.
ReplyDeletethese are lovely :) You definitely did a good job with the pictures. I love the color of your pants. I don't take outfit photos as much as I used to, but I definitely can't do them myself. Or at least, I haven't tried.
ReplyDeleteThis does indeed like like a very serene and peaceful place. You have totally accomplished the outfit pictures! I actually didn't know they were previously done by someone else, who was that?
ReplyDeleteThese retro colors are sooo good together! I love the details on that top. They make it very special.
I don't even know that I could manage to take photos like you did if I did them on my own, so I think they're great, hah. And the scenery is gorgeous. (Psst: I like your pants... capris.... whatever.)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous scenery and gorgeous girl ;) You've gotten so good at taking your own photos Nicole! I've learned that it really helps to use both manual and auto focusing (auto first, and then lock it in with manual). Self portraits are so frustrating at times, and yet so cathartic at the same time right? Anyway, I absolutely adore that top! I saw it in Nordstroms the other day!
ReplyDeleteVery cute outfit! I would totally wear this!
