Daydreaming About You

august 1 4

Do you ever have those days where nothing exceptional happens, but you just feel so good all day? Those days where you don't win a new dress, or go see the Shins in concert, or run a marathon or anything, but a lot of really nice small things happen to you that remind you that you're being really melodramatic when you say you're having the absolute worst week ever. I was in need of one of those days, and today, I got one. I woke myself up at 6:30 (6:40 officially, after I hit snooze), because I made up my mind that I needed to start jogging again. That, and, thanks to an Olympic-themed commercial, I really wanted to jog while listening to my Odyssey audiobook I just purchased. I am impressionable, but you guys know how deep my love for the Odyssey runs. As we were leaving the house, it began to drizzle, and by the time we reached the track, it was pouring. It was so wonderful though. Jogging, soaking wet, not quite able to see clearly, while Ian McKellen read the first chapter of the Odyssey to me, told me, appropriately, of Poseidon's wrath. Afterwards, I drove to work, blasting Delta Spirit along the way. I spent most of the work day catching up with and having ridiculous conversations with my coworker about the olympics, and beluga whales, and mario golf. I may have told him that I cried while watching the Olympic opening ceremony, and when I saw kittens in my backyard. May have. He laughed at me a lot, which made me feel exceptionally funny. It definitely wasn't the fact that he was loopy from 22 hours of plane travel, and was absolutely that I am just hilarious. I'm glad we're all in agreement.

One thing was missing, though. (One Direction side note: Youuuuu've got that oooooone thing). That one thing, was coffee. I didn't have a chance to make any this morning after my jog, so as soon as I got home, I embraced my coffee maker. After taking a sip, I realized I hadn't taken outfit photos yet. I couldn't bare to part with it, so I took it along with me. You see, this is a real life blog, and sometimes, in my real life, I am too addicted to coffee to part with it for more than three minutes. I also may have spilt some all over my skirt while walking to my photo spot. REAL LIFE.

Oh, and here's a friendly reminder to enter the Bridgetown Vintage Giveaway going on right now!

  2. You're adorable, did you know that? It doesn't get more real than outfit photos with coffee in your hand.

  3. Oh man, I had the opposite of an exceptional ordinary day today, but this post made me grin because Ian McKellen's Odyssey is the best!! It was required listening in my high school English class. "Sing to me of the man, Muse, the man of twists and turns..."

    Also, One Direction.

Also, you and Zayn Malik are both really making me want denim/chambray tops again.

  4. I love those days and could really use one soon. Maybe tomorrow! I LOVE that you cried at the Opening Ceremonies...how can you NOT when they light the Olympic flame? Thinking about it I get choked up. You're pretty hilarious, jetlag plays no part in the laughter you create. I find myself laughing at your humor here pretty often.
    OH plus you look ADORBS.

  6. Oh, I love this post! I'm glad that even though you didn't win the lottery that your day was still fabulous. Sometimes, simple pleasures here and there are what really matters. :{D <--Kind of like that mustache'd smiley face; he is a simple pleasure in this comment, oh yes, yes indeed.

Also, the fact that you listened to the Odyssey on your jog is adorable. You are so quirky and cute. <3

Of course, your outfit is just lovely! I think the coffee mug is totally appropriate--at least it matches. ;D

  7. I love those days, when everything's perfect even when nothing special has happened.
I love your style! I found you through Sarah With a Bow's twitter, and you are so adorable!
I would definitely have taken my coffee with me to take outfit pictures, too. Coffee is too good to leave behind.

  8. Those really are the best days! And coffee is an essential, can't start my day without it either. At least your coffee cup goes nicely with your outfit (and I find that picture of it on the ground delightful for some reason). I also can't get over how cute your style is.

  9. I like hearing about your extra ordinary life events! Too many people choose to focus on the high or low points in life and I think those people are missing out on the little moments. Maybe it's just because I'm a person who has a lot of small moments in life, so I like those kind of things.

OMG, I recently had to give coffee up. Was it good?! Did it smell good!!?! I just miss coffee a lot right now.. :(

Oh and cute shoes! I don't usually say that to others, but I feel really compelled to tell you that yours are in fact cute! I would mind wearing a pair of those at all!
