The Cat Returns

So, today my boyfriend and I decided to make a trip to Barnes and Noble to browse all of the lovely books (though in the course of "renovations" the poetry section has mysteriously disappeared...) and to pick up a Hayau Miyazaki film to watch tonight. I've seen a few of his films (Ponyo, Kiki's Delivery Service, Spirited Away) and I've liked them all, so we figured we would pick up another to watch for movie night. After much deliberation, we finally decided on The Cat Returns, because it involves a cat who is actually the Prince of Cats, which sounds silly and wonderful. Do you guys have any movie recommendations? I love films and am always looking for some new ones to watch! :)

Today, I knew I wanted to wear a dress because it was just so warm and sunny out. I decided on this little number, which combines my love for floral and stripes! My boyfriend actually took these pictures for me, which was nice because I didn't have to lug my tripod around.

The Final Goat

Today, as I was flipping through one of my Billy Collins books, looking for a poem I hadn't read yet, I came across one called "Endangered." I love all of his poetry, and this was no exception. The last phrase of the poem is "the final goat," and since the poem is still wandering around in my head, I figured I would entitle this post accordingly. By the way, If you like poetry and haven't checked out Billy Collins yet, I highly suggest his work!

Speaking of goats, I was supposed to go to the Central Park Zoo with my sister tonight but, alas, she has to work late tonight so we can't go. So, instead of moping, I got dressed and decided to go take some outfit photos. For those who don't know me, I am a shy, quiet girl who does not enjoy drawing attention to herself in any way. Despite my trepidations, I threw my tripod case over my shoulder and trekked over to my neighborhood's public park. Despite being early-ish in the day, there were a significant amount of people. But, I found my spot (on the hopscotch section, no less) and tried to have a good time. I even played a little hopscotch myself! I got some funny looks, especially since some of the kids in the park knew me because the school my mother teaches at was right across the street, but it was still a lot of fun :)

If I had the chance, I'd ask the world to dance

Hello! So, today was a pretty laid back day which called for a just as laid back outfit. I headed to my old grammar school, where my mom teaches now, to help her clean and pack up her classroom for the summer. I actually got to see one of my mom's coworkers who is a close family friend and like a second mom to me, as well as her sons, who I'm really close to and don't get to see much anymore. It was really nice to just talk and laugh with them and having our interactions be so natural, like they always are. When I don't see someone I'm close to for a while, I always worry that when I see them again our interactions will be forced or awkward. It's always nice when that doesn't happen! :)

Somethings that ARE awkward though are these photos! I took them just as all my neighbors were getting home and felt a little self-conscious and silly. But anyway, on to the outfit.

I love these silly little glasses! They're my mom's from the eighties, but ever since I found them I love to wear them, even if they look a bit silly.

And one silly photo just for giggles.

Someday You Will Be Loved

Hello! So, today I trekked down to the city because my sister was being inducted into the Bar, meaning she is now officially a lawyer. The courtroom was so beautiful. It had paintings all over the wall and a lovely stained glass ceiling. Unfortunately, they didn't let us take pictures! After the ceremony, we got super yummy Italian food and even found a place that sold macarons, which I've been wanting to try forever.

I LOVE this blouse. I just picked it up last weekend from Urban Outfitters. I've been wanting a Peter Pan collar shirt for a long time, and I finally found a super cute one.

Well, I hope you all had lovely weekends.

Until tomorrow,
Nicole :)

Let's try this again

So, yesterday I decided to finally make a fashion blog. And, yesterday, I took down said fashion blog in a frenzy of frustration (I won't get into details). But I've decided that I have to make decisions for myself and do what I want to do without listening to the pressures others are putting on me. SO! Here I am again! And now, on to my first post.

This outfit is actually yesterday's outfit. I went to a bridal shower for my cousin who's getting married in August. It was in Long Island, and I love it out there. It's so calm and pretty!
